Thermal Engineer
Job description:
As a Thermal Engineer, you will be responsible for thermal analyses and thermal management of devices and subsystems designed for space applications. You will work closely with Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems Engineering teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle – from the initial concept to final product release.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing heat flow and thermal analyses of devices operating in the space environment.
- Analysing subsystem configurations with respect to temperature distribution and heat flow.
- Performing thermal analyses of electronic devices and components.
- Developing and evaluating thermal models using numerical simulation tools.
- Supporting reliability analyses, technical risk assessment, and failure risk evaluation.
- Cooperating closely with Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems Engineering teams from the initial concept phase through to final product release.
- Planning and carrying out experimental test campaigns using specialised measurement equipment.
- Performing detailed analysis and interpretation of experimental results.
- Preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.
- Supporting the preparation of scientific publications and technical articles.
What we expect:
- A university degree in a technical field, preferably Energy Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of numerical heat transfer and thermal analysis methods.
- Experience with at least one thermal or CFD simulation environment, such as ANSYS CFX/FLUENT, Simcenter 3D, FLOEFD, ESATAN, or similar software.
- English at B2 level or higher, enabling effective communication and work with technical documentation.
- Good command of Microsoft Windows and MicrosoftOffice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity and the ability to independently search for and work with scientific and technical sources.
- General knowledge of current engineering technologies and solutions.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
Nice to have:
- Professional experience in a similar thermal engineering or analysis role.
- Experience with measurement techniques, particularly temperature measurements and thermography.
- Experience in planning and conducting laboratory or environmental tests.
- Basic knowledge of electronics.
- Experience in developing mathematical or computational models.
- Practical experience in performing thermal analyses using engineering simulation tools.
- Knowledge of MATLAB or programming languages such as Python or Fortran.
- Knowledge of space industry standards, particularly ECSS.
- Interest in space and satellite technologies.
